The Adam Project is out now on Netflix. I had the opportunity of working with Production Designer Claude Paré and Director Shawn Levy on this project. It was the first project we were shooting in Vancouver after the pandemic had started, so it was a new way of working with lots of zoom calls. I was one of the first people on the show so it was nice to be able to do some research on Adam’s House, the backyard cabin, the lab and Sorian technologies.

The original design of the lab was a bit more sci fii, based in part on the Geneva Particle Collider. Though the look of the lab changed a bit in post production and a few scenes were cut, it was a lot of fun coming up with these images with the crew. I hope you enjoy going through them and seeing how this movie came together..

The Original Script had a big explosion for the end of the third act. Sadly that all got cut in the end, but here’s a look at what could have been

The final Scene would show a big wormhole being created underneath the Sorian Campus as it starts to suck everything metallic onto itself. It was a lot of fun coming up with interesting ways to show this over a location photo

The Vancouver convention center doubled as the exterior for Sorian Technologies. It was supposed to have a feeling of a huge university like or google/facebook campus. The first draft of the script had more action happening on the exterior and this was one of those scenes

The exterior Pine Ridge Motel was shot on location and they built real Neon signs for this scene. It was so gratifying seeing the shot in the movie was almost 1:1 to this image. The interior was all designed by me and was built on a separate stage.

The picture on the upper right hand corner was the location house and this was done to show how much work would need to be done to add Adam’s house into it.
